Project overview
Planning permission is sought for the development of the existing timber framing yard at Old Crawley Road into a Reggio Emilia School. The site lies to the south of the Old Crawley Road and is located in the countryside within the High Weald Area of ‘Outstanding Natural Beauty’.
The development consists of the conversion of the existing timber framing workshop, office-into-classroom accommodation, the demolition of the existing open barn and the construction of two buildings to accommodate classrooms, offices and supporting facilities. Car-parking is also available for both the parents to drop off children and for the staff.
Sustainable construction is at the forefront of our property developments, ensuring they serve generations.
Our Insights – Sustainable development
The design and layout for the development is broadly based around a typical Sussex ‘loose courtyard farmstead plan’
These buildings have distinctive characteristics including high pitched roofs, projecting double-height spaces, a variety of material finishes, and a mixture of vertical and horizontal cladding details.
The material finishes are largely contemporary, but still reflect those of the traditional Sussex farmyard vernacular
The buildings are designed to a high standard using environmentally sustainable materials and orientated to gain maximum sunlight and passive solar energy.
